About Us
EDIN is committed to preventing anorexia, bulimia, compulsive overeating and other eating disorders through outreach, awareness and action. We prevent eating disorders by increasing public awareness of the genetic and personality factors that put someone “at risk,” as well as helping people understand the influence of family messages about food and body size, peer influences on diet, and the impact of media images. By understanding and recognizing the warning signs and vulnerabilities, those who suffer and their family members can address these problems before they turn into a fully developed eating disorder. We are able to help those who are already suffering by finding the therapeutic services they need, as well as gathering and distributing information about local and national treatment options.
Because we believe that those in recovery not only have great expertise and wisdom about recovery, but special sensitivities and many hidden talents, we offer a number of forums for those in recovery to give back. Our amazing group of volunteers organizes fun awareness events and get-togethers each month. They are the driving force of our successful fundraisers.
